Privacy policy
This site is a description of a company and its work. It collects as little as a site can while still letting you write to us, and this page says exactly what that is.
Who we are
Atom Works, Inc. ("Atom Works", "we") is a company based in Corona Del Mar, California. The point of contact for anything on this page is john.ossenmacher@amem.law.
What we collect
If you use the contact form
We receive what you type: your name, email address, organization if you give one, the topic you select, and your message. The form is processed by our hosting provider, Netlify, which stores submissions so we can read them and notifies us by email when one arrives. We use what you send to reply to you and for no other purpose. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not share your message or your details with anyone outside Atom Works unless you ask us to or the law requires it.
If you email us directly
Your email is handled like any business correspondence: kept for as long as the conversation and our records reasonably require, and not shared outside the company without your agreement.
Ordinary web server logs
Like every website, ours is served by infrastructure that records standard request data: the IP address the request came from, the page requested, the time, and the browser's self-description. Netlify holds these logs for its own operational and security purposes under its privacy policy. We do not use them to identify or profile visitors.
Fonts
Pages load typefaces from Google Fonts. When your browser requests those files, Google receives the request, including your IP address, under Google's privacy policy. No other third-party resources are loaded.
What we do not do
- We set no cookies of our own and run no analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts.
- We do not sell personal information and have not done so in the preceding twelve months. We do not "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are used in California law.
- We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a minor has sent us information, tell us and we will delete it.
The demonstration on the home page
The two-seal demonstration generates cryptographic keys and signs a sample record entirely inside your browser. Nothing you type into it is transmitted to us or to anyone else. The keys are discarded when you leave the page.
How long we keep things
Contact form submissions and email correspondence are kept for as long as needed to respond and to maintain a reasonable record of business communications, and are then deleted or archived. You can ask us to delete your submission at any time.
Your rights
Wherever you are, you can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by writing to the address above. If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you those rights in law, together with the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have equivalent rights under the GDPR and UK GDPR, and our basis for processing what you send us is our legitimate interest in responding to your enquiry. We will respond to any request within the time the applicable law requires.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Form submissions are stored by Netlify in the United States. We limit access to submissions to the people who need to answer them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. We will not apply a change retroactively to information already collected without telling you.
